US-Mexico Border: A man from Gandhinagar was reportedly killed during a failed attempt to cross the US-Mexico border wall. After preliminary investigation of the matter, the police have said that he had not informed his relatives living in Chhatral village about his migration plan. In some reports published in the American media, it has been told that the deceased has been identified as Brijkumar Yadav of Kalol taluka of Gandhinagar district.
According to reports, he fell and died while climbing the ‘Trump Wall’ on the US-Mexico border while illegally entering the US on Wednesday. His wife and three-year-old son suffered serious injuries in the incident. According to preliminary investigation by the Gandhinagar police, the person who lost his life in the accident worked as an accountant in a private company near Kalol town. According to the police, he had not informed other family members about his plan to go to America before leaving with his wife Pooja and three-year-old son Tanmay on November 18.
Wife fell in US territory, son in Mexico
According to reports, all the three members of this family fell from a very high height. Yadav’s wife fell in the American sector while his son fell in the Mexican side. After getting information about this incident through the media, the State Crime Investigation Department has ordered an investigation to ascertain the facts and take necessary action against the agents who are involved in the business of illegal migration of people.
Additional Director General of Police (DGP) CID-Crime and Railways, RB Brahmbhat said, “After the incident came to light through the media, I have asked the Deputy Superintendent of Police of my anti-human trafficking unit to investigate the entire matter.” Earlier, Gandhinagar Superintendent of Police Tarun Kumar Duggal had said that a separate investigation has been launched to trace Brij Kumar Yadav’s family.

Later in the day, police traced Brijkumar Yadav’s family in Chhatral village near Kalol town and visited their home where the family of Brijkumar’s mother and elder brother Vinod Yadav live. Brijkumar Yadav used to work as an accountant in a private company. Deputy Superintendent of Police of Kalol division P D Manwar said that he was originally from Gonda district of Uttar Pradesh.
Manwar said, ‘Brijkumar left Chhatral on 18 November with his wife and son. He did not share any details about where he is going. He only told his family that he was going on a holiday. His brother and other family members are claiming ignorance about the agent who arranged for his ticket and passport.

According to Vinod Yadav, his brother never told him that he was planning to move to another country. He told reporters, ‘He only told us that he and his family would return after a month. He said that he is going on a vacation somewhere. Then, on December 17, his wife Pooja called us and said that Brijkumar had passed away. He immediately disconnected the phone. We want the government to bring back my brother’s body. We also want Pooja and Tanmay back.

Vinod Yadav said that the police asked him about the details of the agent who helped Brijkumar reach Mexico, but he could not help them much because Brijkumar had never shared such details or the details of going to the US via Mexico.
